Teach Me Something Good (+spin-offs)
Teach Me Something Good is a year-long coming of age story about 33 year old English teacher Noland Strong, and lazy high school student Chrystal. The story focuses on the unlikely friendship between the two individuals. Explores themes such as the different spheres of adolescence and adulthood, coming of age as an adult, and self discovery. Or something. Teach Me Something Good also briefly discusses events in Noland's college life.
A separate story involving Noland and Prudence Moon (Noland's coworker and fellow English teacher) takes place post-Teach Me Something Good. Prue and Noland's story also takes place over the course of the year, and is divided into four parts based on the seasons. Summer directly follows the school year that ended in Teach Me Something Good, and involves Prue (a published author) helping Noland publish his first novel. This season is also when Prue reveals romantic feelings for Noland, and how the two of them work with their friendship with this information in mind. Autumn is the chronological autumn after summer, and just involves miscellaneous events that happen at the high school. Spring comes next for some reason, and is set in the past--this season is set in Prue's perspective, and involves miscellaneous backstory vignettes about her life. Winter comes last, set in the same year as Summer and Autumn. This season is about Noland and Prue taking a trip for the winter to Noland's home town in Georgia, which he hasn't visited in several years.
Noland and Prue's story looks into the boundaries of intimacy and love outside of romantic relationships.
While Noland is the connecting factor between these two storylines, he's not necessarily any more important as a character than Chrystal or Prudence.
I don't have comics for either of the two stories, yet, but... idk, I'll maybe get around to drawing some stuff eventually. I'm a little more organized with the post-TMSG storyline, but I kind of want to figure out the Noland and Chrystal story a bit more;;; EVENTUALLY!
